Fireworks, Lost Rings and Magnum Store opens!
Is this your wedding ring?
A diamond wedding ring was found inside a restroom at Sandton City. A very honest local resident wants to help return it to its rightful owner!
According to reports, there is a very distinctive characteristic that only the rightful owner will be able to describe.
Contact Nelson Mandela Square’s Lost and Found Dept (011 217 6000) for details.
Want to change the fireworks by-laws?
The recent firework displays created a large outcry, especially amongst residents whose pets are traumatised by loud noises.
The good news it that the City of Joburg is amending the Emergency Services By-laws, including the control of fireworks.
Should you wish to have your say, you need to do so by 13 December 2018. You can also access the draft by-laws here.

Slower turnaround time for Drivers’ Licences
The Transport Department has given motorists a heads-up that the issuing of drivers’ licences will be significantly slower in the coming weeks. This is the result of an ongoing strike by employees at the department’s Driving Licensing Card Account (DLCA) wanting permanent positions and the accompanying employment benefits.
Those who apply after their licences have expired will be issued a temporary licence which will be valid for six months. An additional fee will be charged.
Also a heads-up that the renovations to the Sandton Licensing Department in Marlboro are nearing completion. It is scheduled to open its doors early next week.
“Pikitup” employee Christmas bonus
It’s that wonderful time of year when an alarming number of Pikitup “employees” descend on us, asking for their “Christmas box” or Christmas bonus. Please do not give them anything.
Local ward councillors have also asked that you refrain from giving your regular Pikitup staff any cash bonuses as they receive a decent salary and year-end bonus. Should they become aggressive, please record the truck number, time and date and send the information to your councillor.
