#HiddenGems – Gia’s on Montrose
If there’s ONE question that crops up most regularly on our Facebook feed, it’s “where is a good place to have breakfast or brunch over the weekend?” The truth is that we are always on the lookout for spots that offer outdoor options, are not too busy, and are preferably not located in a shopping mall!
Enter Gia’s on Montrose – that #HiddenGem that we have either never experienced, or one we keep forgetting because it is so well hidden!
Those in the know will tell you that this charming little restaurant situated in the tranquil Montrose Nursery, offers both indoor and outdoor dining. Not to mention a lovely children’s area where they can play to their hearts’ content! Their indoor dining room also includes a fireplace – an absolute must for the colder months!
Run by wife and husband team, Wayne and Michelle Groenewald, Gia’s on Montrose offers the chance to escape from city life while also enjoying spectacular food and personal service. Whether looking for a relaxed hearty breakfast, homemade burgers, tramezzinis, superb salads and more, or simply would like to try their fabulous Italian coffee or addictive cocktails, this is definitely a venue to try!
Personally, we are quite fond of the John Gotti Breakfast – a hearty plate filled with two eggs, rosemary mushrooms, grilled tomato, bacon, sausage and toast! The Viva Le French Toast is also absolutely superb, especially with bacon/ macon!
Their Kids’ Menu is also great value and always a win for kids, especially the Beef Bangers & Fries or Penne Napoletana.
Those feeling a little more hungry should definitely opt for a burger – they are legendary in these parts! The Lazy Afternoon Beef Burger is the one to try if you like avo. Alternatively, the Ayoba Beef Burger is superb with its double patty!
The drinks menu will satisfy any craving – but do try their famous hot chocolate in winter. The cappuccinos with cream are also superb – the ultimate indulgence for coffee lovers!
