Marlboro Licensing Centre is OPEN!
After many delays, the Marlboro licensing centre is officially OPEN for business!
The City of Joburg initially decided to upgrade the Marlboro licensing centre in a bid to improve the quality of service provision, reduce long queues and combat corruption.
The technologically-equipped centre was opened by the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Public Safety, Michael Sun, on Thursday, 18 April.
“The aim was to revamp, improve and upgrade the centre by making it more responsive to deliver quality and sustainable services for corporate clients, residents, people with disabilities and the aged,” said Sun.
“We will clamp down on corruption through the cashless payment system and the constant CCTV monitoring of operations,” he continued.

The Marlboro Licensing Centre will now serve as a benchmark for smart innovation at all centres in Joburg. Plans are afoot for renovations of City-operated licensing centres in the next financial year.
