It’s been a busy week on the Sandton crime front! As always, we’ve compiled a list of everything you need to know about Sandton crime in the past 7 days.

Crime hotspots:

Please take extra care at the intersection of Woodmead Drive and Maxwell Drive in Woodmead, Sandton. It has become a hotspot for hijacking and armed robberies.

William Nicol continues to be flagged as a crime hotspot for armed robberies in peak hour traffic and at sunset. Be VERY alert when stopping at any William Nicol intersection – particularly at Peter Place, Republic and Mattie.

Tuck shop robbed near Sandton school

(Monday 4 March) – Children at The Kings School in Linbro Park were alarmed when shots were fired on Monday afternoon in close proximity to the school.

According to reports, a nearby informal “tuck shop” operating out of a shipping container kiosk was robbed men. A number of shots were fired and money was taken from the premises, but no injuries were reported.

Victim stabbed at Bryanston restaurant

An argument at an unnamed Bryanston restaurant resulted in a fatal stabbing incident on Friday 1 March.

The victim is reported to have been in their 20s. The suspect has been found and has been charged with murder.

Dog fighting in Marlboro Gardens leads to arrest

Police have arrested a man after the Sandton SPCA raided a Marlboro Gardens property, Video footage was reportedly sent through to the Sandton SPCA emergency line of two dogs fighting in front of spectators.

The suspect has denied knowledge of the incident despite his voice being recorded on the video. Criminal charges have been laid and his case has been scheduled for 20 March at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court.
