SANDTON CRIME IN BRIEF: Compost sellers are back in our neighbourhood; man shot on Grayston Drive Bridge; and SABC issues warning that inspectors are NOT visiting households!
Compost sellers are back in our neighbourhood
They are the bane of many of our lives, and it seems that they have returned to the Sandton areas. These very aggressive compost sellers drive around the suburb offering to lay compost or lawn dressing for a certain fee. Once they have provided homeowners with a quote and agreed to a set number of bags, they then proceed to lay MORE than the agreed amount and demand payment.
Local security companies have been alerted and have stepped in where necessary. Please do NOT purchase compost or lawn dressing from these sellers – they do become very aggressive and various households have had nasty experiences.
One man injured during shooting on Grayston Drive Bridge
(Friday 26 October) – A man was shot in the arm during an attempted robbery on the Grayston Drive Bridge. According to reports, three armed men approached the victim’s vehicle and demanded cash. The victim was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition following the crime.
SABC issues warning that inspectors are NOT visiting households
The SABC wishes to alert the public that it has NOT appointed inspectors or officials to physically inspect household television sets.
Various community groups have raised the alert, citing that three males in seats in a silver VW Caddy have attempted to gain access to houses.
PLEASE press your panic button, alert your local security company or phone the police should these men (or similar) arrive at your gate.
We also advise giving your domestic staff a heads-up.
