Two cases of alleged sexual misconduct have rocked Sandton over the past few months, with BOTH offenders currently outon bail.

Bryanston High School Employee Arrested (January 2019)

Bryanston High School has confirmed a 33-year old teacher was suspended and arrested on Thursday 17 January. The allegations include sexually assaulting pupils in 2017 and 2018 during “netball matches and school outings“.

Various reports cite THREE girls coming forward, however Sandton SAPS spokesman Captain Granville Meyer said that only one person has opened a formal complaint over allegations of sexual assault.

The teacher also faces charges of financial mismanagement.

The teacher appeared in court on Thursday 17 January. The case was postponed to Tuesday 12 March.

A 49-year old suspected child molester targeting the Morningside area has had his cased postponed again – until Monday 25 February.

According to this report, the suspect pretended to have a broken arm while in the Morningside Country Club changing rooms on 16 August 2018. He then approached an 11-year old boy that had run to the bathroom during a school hockey match, claiming that he needed help taking down his pants. He then blocked the doorway and forced the child to fondle his genitals. The child managed to get away and his parents immediately opened a criminal case at the Sandton Police Station.

The case has been linked to a similar incident where a child was involved in a sexual assault in recent months by a man with his arm in a sling.

The suspect was later arrested at his Sandton massage parlour. He appeared at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was released on R5,000 bail.
